Hello everyone! First, I would like to say what an honor it is to be a part of such a wonderful group of ladies; and of course a first-class company such as Robinson Outdoors. I am looking forward to great things and hopefully someday meeting all of you.
So far my summer is going great. My husband is home for the next several months (teacher), and we are enjoying our time together with our two boys. Most days are spent outside, either in the pool or riding ATV’s, or just hanging out.
My husband has been out a few times to hang some scouting cameras (lucky dog), unfortunately, somebody has to work, and so I haven’t had the chance to accompany him yet; although, I am planning to do so very soon. I never will forget how shocked he was when I suggested that we go to a 3-D course for our first date. He was even more shocked when I showed up with a recurve! Honestly, I think I bet him that day. But, he probably wouldn’t admit it. Ever since that day, he has been my best hunting partner; other than my dad.
The most exciting news this summer was learning that my husband (Steve) and I are going to Colorado in September on our first ever elk hunt….and it is going to be filmed! In addition to teaching P.E. he also happens to be a free-lance outdoor writer. Through various avenues we recently had the privilege to join up with Outfitters Edge. Outfitters Edge (OE) runs a free on-line outfitter directory (among other things) and the entire hunt is going to be filmed for their new show, set to debut on the Outdoor Channel in 09’. You can imagine just how excited we are! The only thing left to do is g
et ready (physically) for the hunt and practice with my bow. I think this hunt will give me a lot of motivation to get in better shape, since the elevation will range from 10-13,000 feet. West Virginia Mountains are big, but not that big!
I think the really hard part will be being away from my little boys for a week. I haven’t been away from them for more than one night at a time. But, I think they will be real excited to see mommy bring home a bigger elk than daddy. Just like the tim
e I killed a bigger bear than my husband when we went to Canada to hunt. He still hasn’t lived that one down. We watch elk hunts at night and my little boys try to sound like them, it is so cute.
Well, it is getting late; the boys are restless and tomorrow is a new day. Again, I am thrilled to be a part of the Lady ScentBlocker team and I look forward to sharing all of the exciting things that have happened to me in the past and those that are yet to come in the future. Talk to Ya’ll soon.
